Let’s Meet by the Sun
To establish the 1st of August as the date that should be celebrated in countries along the Danube River. To inform, to make well known and to educate local and other communities on existence of prehistoric Celtic settlements on the ground of nowadays towns along the banks of the Danube River and to emphasize the common Celtic cultural background of the people in the Danube Region.
One of the four important Celtic holidays – the Lugnasada would be celebrated on the 1st of August. That would be the day to organize the event named Let’s meet by the Sun on one of the Belgrade locations on the Danube banks with cultural and entertainment character, with an exhibition, selling Celtic souvenirs, tasting of the Celtic food and beer. This event would be accompanied with media and promotional activities (printing of publications and map with all Danube towns participating in this event, launching of the unique prize – a copy of Celtic utility object that symbolize intertwining of Celtic culture, tradition and heritage …)
At its invading march in descending in wave’s trough the Danube Valley toward the Black Sea, the Celts were founding their settlements which were cornerstones for later cities of: Heuneburg, Regensburg, Passau, Linz, Bratislava, Vienna, Gyor, Budapest, Vukovar, Novi Sad, Belgrade, Vidin, Silistra …
This project about less known facts on the joint Celtic heritage of towns in the Danube region is aimed to contribute to better information across the generations of civil society in order to have integral picture of intertwined past and common cultural and historical denominator within the Danube region.
