OLD TOWN LOCAL COMMUNITY OF CITIZEN AND CITIZENS
NEW MODEL OF HUMANITARIAN AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBLE LOCAL COMMUNITY

Goal is to create such communities is that in the spirit of demographic and other changes create a model community in which the stake holders of all activities were themselves citizens regardless of their age, social, health and cultural circumstances. This project greatly change the inherited image perception and attitude towards aging and old age, which is framed only demographic characteristic, social and medical needs of the elderly, and to thereby ignore their creative abilities, their under-loading resources and potentials that make caring for the elderly holistic – open for many new initiatives, programs and projects. This model recognizes the entire tradition but also new challenges and technological achievement, media and communication abilities. As such, it is a project in progress with several visible results. An integral part of this project is part of a larger projects that will be represented on seminar. Stake holders of these projects are associations, institutions and personalities that are located in the municipality of Stari Grad. A project launched by the Foundation for human ageing dr Laza Lazarevic and municipality of Stari Grad. Project has all the hallmarks of an integrated and partnership system work. The Old City is a central municipality with 48 000 inhabitants, with 21 000 households and 28 590 flats. age population make up 23% of the elderly population. The average age was 44 years. In the structure, there are several events that have the hallmark of community citizens. Central place belongs to the memorial house of Dr Laza Lazarevic, the first gerontologist, doctor and writer, academic and the only doctor in the Encyclopedia of world medicine. Old streets names (136) are the ideal foundation for the identification of the old traditions and make new programs and events such as Open heart street, Street of good neighbors, Street of books. Stari grad municipality comes out on two rivers Sava and Danube as a special incentive for the creation of a local model of citizen and citizens. The intention is that this model is slowly spreading to four other municipalities bordering the river (Zvezdara, Palilula, Savski Venac, Cukarica). Society for the care of the elderly is one of the oldest in Belgrade, located 40 years ago on municipality of Stari grad.
Our partners could be Belgrade City Assembly, Municipality of Stari Grad, ten non-government organizations, educational, cultural and health institutions, numerous corporations on Stari grad.
